Candidate Information
This section gives you information on the type of jobs we recruit for, and how best to
work with us.
Industry Sectors vs Job Functions
Cambridge Graduate Recruitment does not specialise in a particular industry. Instead, we
organise our work by transferable job functions such as Finance, Marketing or IT. This is far more
appropriate to the increasingly flexible job market and allows both
candidates and their employers to benefit from cross-industry experience.
While we accept candidates and vacancies in all areas, there are some functional areas where we are particularly strong:
- Networking, programming and web design
- Sales and Marketing
- Language and Translation Services
- Finance (particularly ACA/CIMA)
Our role as a recruitment agency
At Cambridge Graduates we recognise that we have two key responsibilities. Our principal
task is to work on behalf of our employer client to rapidly identify and introduce suitable
applicants for their vacancies. This is the service we are in business to provide.
However, we also understand our obligations to candidates. We try to provide objective advice,
full information on vacancies and realistic feedback on interview performance. You should also find that we return phone calls and never knowingly mislead you
about the circumstances of a particular job or company.
In the long run, this approach benefits both parties, as we can identify potential problems
early and keep as many options open for the future as possible.
Constructive feedback is always welcome, whether positive or negative.
You can provide us with feedback on our performance through our comments form.
Working with us
We aim to establish a long and rewarding relationship with all our candidates.
Even if we cannot help you immediately, it is almost certain that at some stage in your career
we will be able to identify an important opportunity for you with one of our clients.
To this end, we have set out below a list of things to bear in mind when contacting us. These
points are designed to show you the extent of our services and help you get the best out of your
relationship with us:
- Firstly, before registering with us please read the
privacy notice.
This sets out how
we use your personal information when you register with us and use this site.
- When
submitting your CV, please remember that we cannot
individually "touch up" and spell check the 300 or so CVs we receive each day. You should therefore adopt the same approach when submitting a CV
to us as when sending one to a potential employer.
- Although we offer advice where we can, we are not a careers advice bureau. We cannot
offer fully independent advice and therefore if you are unsure of your career direction, we
recommend registering with us to take a look at what is available while at the same time seeking qualified careers advice.
- On the whole, we will only call you if we have some news regarding a vacancy. However, if you
are concerned about the status of your application or would like some advice, please feel free to email or telephone the consultant dealing
with your CV.
- It is extremely helpful when candidates notify us of a change in their circumstances e.g. phone
number or email address. This saves consultant time and allows us to concentrate on finding you
an opportunity that meets your requirements.
- Agencies are not exclusive. Remember that you can register with us even if you have used another
agency as well. However, we do ask that you tell us about any companies the other agency
has put you forward to, to avoid any difficult or confusing situations. This also applies
to situations where you have already applied for a job with one of our clients.
- Finally, remember that although we try our hardest to provide a suitable opportunity for you
to consider, we cannot find a role to everyone, particularly if your criteria (e.g.
location or industry) are very tight. You should use our services in conjunction with other methods (for example newspaper
advertisements) if you are actively seeking employment within the very near future.
